Soprattutto quando la indossi solo con un paio di ali maestose e tacchi vertiginosi.
We wear it everyday, often not even caring whether it is coordinated or not and I guess even without enthusiasm. Except for special occasions, when it remains covered anyway or lasts few minutes. Despite all of that, lingerie will always have an undeniable charm.

Mancano pochi giorni al debutto dell’edizione 2017 del Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show e l’elenco delle cose da sapere si fa sempre più intrigante. Non ci credete? Ecco cosa ha in servo per noi il VSFS 2017:

LOCATION & TIME
Dopo aver colonizzato il Grand Palais di Parigi l’anno scorso, il Victoria’s Secret decide di spingersi ancora più lontano. Quanto lontano? Shanghai.
Se vi chiedete perché, beh si tratta di un’intelligente mossa di marketing, per consolidare la popolarità del marchio in Cina: considerate che proprio quest’anno Victoria’s Secret ha aperto la sua prima boutique proprio a Shanghai.
After invading the Grand Palais in Paris, Victoria’s Secret has decided to travel even farther. How far? Shanghai. In case you were wondering the reason, well consider this a clever (yet fancy) marketing move to establish the brand awareness in China: indeed Victoria’s Secret has just opened its first Chinese flagship boutique right in Shanghai.

FASHION & WINGS
Nella follia mediatica che circonda il VSFS, spesso ci si dimentica che sono i costumi di scena a fare lo show. Colorati e divertenti oppure sfacciatamente sexy: ogni anno Victoria’s Secret cerca di superarsi, contattando artisti da tutto il mondo per creare i look dello show. Anche se i segmenti tematici, che caratterizzano i look, cambiano ogni volta, c’è qualcosa che deve rimanere sempre lo stesso, almeno come concetto: le ali. Quest’anno lo show promette piume, foglie d’oro, lustrini, spille da balia e molto altro!
With all the media madness surrounding the VSFS, it is easy to forget that the costumes are the real focus of the show. Colourful and fun or edgy and sexy: each year Victoria’s Secret tries to outdone itself by collaborating with different artists from all over the world to design the show’s looks. Even though the thematic segments that influence the looks change every year (or at least they try), there is one thing that can’t be missed and will never change (at least as a concept): the wings! This year’s show promises lots of beautiful feathers, gold leaves, beads, safety pins and much more!
VS x BALMAIN
Si avete letto bene, una delle enormi novità di quest’anno riguarda il coinvolgimento della maison francese Balmain nella realizzazione dei look per il VSFS. Questa è la prima volta che un marchio di lusso viene coinvolto nello show e le aspettative sono ovviamente altissime. A quanto si sa ad oggi, Balmain realizzerà i look per il segmento punk della sfilata: siamo curiosi di vedere come l’opulenza delle decorazioni di Olivier Rousting riuscirà ad elevare il tema.
Tuttavia ero certa che lo stilista Olivier Rousteing non si sarebbe limitato solo a studiare un’accattivante selezione di look, che avrebbero visto le luci della ribalta solo per una notte. Infatti Victoria’s Secret lancerà subito dopo lo show (il 29 novembre), una capsule collection in collaborazione con Balmain, che sarà acquistabile online e (immagino) in alcune boutique VS. Si è una mossa alla H&M (ricordate la recente collezione con Erdem?), che sicuramente spopolerà sui social.
Yes, you have read correctly. One of the biggest news about this year show is the involvement of the French maison Balmain in the design of the costumes for the show. This is the first time that a high fashion brand is involved in the show and the expectations are obviously very high. According to what we know so far, Balmain is going to design the looks for the punk-themed segment of the runway show: we can’t wait to see how Olivier Rousteing’s signature richness in details will upgrade the theme.
However I knew that Oliver Rousteing would have taken this collaboration to the next level, because designing looks that would have shined just for one night was not enough. Indeed right after the show (on November 29th) Victoria’s Secret will launch an exclusive capsule collection designed with Balmain, that will be available online and in selected Victoria’s Secret boutiques. Victoria’s Secret is definitely pulling an H&M move here ( do you remember its recent capsule collection with Erdem?), that will surely go big on social media.
THE MODELS
E chi indosserà tutto sto popò di roba? Una folta legione di modelle ovviamente. Oltre ai 13 angeli di Victoria’s Secret, tra cui la bellissima Candice Swanepoel in forma più che mai dopo la maternità, abbiamo altre 45 modelle dalle passerelle internazionali. Tra i nuovi volti dello show che non vediamo l’ora di veder debuttare Gizele Oliveira, Samile Bermannelli e Grace Bol.
So who’s going to wear all these incredibile costumes? A big legion of models of course. Aside the 13 Victoria’s Secret Angels, among which the beautiful Candice Swanepoel, who is back after her maternity leave, we have something like 45 models from international runways. Among the show’s new comers, we can’t wait to see Gizele Oliveira, Samile Bermannelli and Grace Bol.
Toneranno in passerella anche la top model ed ex angelo di Victoria’s Secret Karlie Kloss (che aveva lasciato le ali per iscriversi all’ università e promuovere corsi di programmazione web per le giovani donne del domani con l’iniziativa Kode with Klossy) e le sorelle Hadid: terzo giro per Gigi, secondo per Bella. Chi non ci sarà? Kendall Jenner. Se speravate fosse per lo scarso talento resterete delusi: il vero motivo per cui la star dei social non sarà nello show è dovuto a piccola clausola di non concorrenza nel suo contratto come testimonial (improbabile) per l’esclusivo marchio di lingerie italiano La Perla.
Also top models and ex former Victoria’s Secret angel, Karlie Kloss will back on the runway for the big show (in case you forgot, Karlie gave up on her VS angel contract, to focus on collage and her Kode with Klossy program for young girls). The Hadid’s sister will be part of the runway show too: this will mark Gigi’s third appereance on the show and Bella’s second. Who will not be on the show? Kendall Jenner. In case you were wondering, this has nothing to do with her actual modelling skills: the reason she won’t be on the show is due to her contract as the (unconvincing) face of Italian lingerie brand La Perla.
THE FANTASY BRA
Oltre a pizzo, cotone e lycra, in passerella vedremo anche della lingerie da sogno…nel senso che te la sogni proprio. $2.000.000,00 questo è il cartellino per il Fantasy Bra 2017, rinominato Champagne Nights.
Besides lace, cotton and lycra, on the runway we will also see some dreamy lingerie, a.k.a. lingerie that you can actually wear only in your dreams. $2.000.000,00 : this is the price tag of the 2017 Fantasy Bra, named Champagne Nights.
6000 pietre preziose e 350 ore di lavoro: l’onore d’indossare il gioiello della serata ed il simbolo di questo fashion show 2017, sarà dell’angelo di Victoria’s Secret Lais Ribeiro. La modella brasiliana entra nella storia di Victoria’s Secret come la quarta modella di colore ad indossare il Fantasy Bra: prima di lei Tyra Banks (1997), Selita Ebanks (2007) e Jasmine Tookes (2016). Finalmente un po’ di diversità in questo show!
6000 gem stones and more than 350 hours of work: Victoria’s Secret angel Lais Riberio will have the honour to wear the most precious piece of the collection and the symbol of this 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The Brazilian model makes Victoria’s Secret history as the 4th model of color to wear the Fantasy Bra: before her Tyra Banks (1997), Selita Ebanks (2007) and Jasmine Tookes (2016). Finally we see more diversity on this show!
MUSIC PERFORMERS
E cos’è uno show senza musica? Al VSFS si sono esibiti molti grandi artisti, tra cui i Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, The Weekend, Bruno Mars e Lady Gaga. Quindi a chi tocca quest’anno? Dua Lipa ? No. Drake? Nemmeno. Evitiamo liste: si vocifera che ad esibirsi in passerella ci saranno Harry Styles, Katy Perry e TAYLOR SWIFT PER LA TERZA VOLTA.
