“Understanding fashion” non nasce come una rubrica, ma come una riflessione personale di una persona che sta scoprendo il mondo della moda, e come decifrarlo.
Oggi vi parlo di Virgil Alboh, designer e fondatore di Off White, in particolare della collezione da poco presentata alla Paris Fashion Week.
“Understanding fashion” is not a section-born series of articles, they want to represent a sort of collections of thoughts of a person who is learning something new about the world of fashion, and how to interpret it.
Today I would like to talk to you about Virgil Abloh, designer and founder of Off White, with a focus on the Spring/Summer collection presented at Paris fashion week.
Perchè?
Perchè ha presentato una collezione ispirata dalla principessa più amata del mondo: Lady Diana.
“Penso che [Lady D] sia una musa per la donna contemporanea, giovane e meno giovane, dai 16 ai 60 anni. E’ stata un’icona per la sua generazione: una donna forte, indipendente e gentile, e volevo celebrarla per questo. Off-White ha sempre voluto rappresentare una donna forte, sicura di se, e volevo dimostrare di essere stato influenzato da lei”
Molti dei look della sfilata riprendono abiti indossati da Diana in momenti importanti della sua vita, a cui Abloh ha saputo dare un tocco all’avanguardia, ad esempio presentando dei crop tops nella collezione. Se vi state chiedendo da dove arrivino le scarpe, beh, ringraziate la collaborazione con Jimmy Choo. E godetevi i look più significativi della sfilata.
Why?
Because he revealed a collection inspired to the most loved princess in the world: Lady Diana.
“I think she’s a muse for the modern woman, young and old, 16 to 60. She’s the figure in the back of the head of a generation: a powerful, independent and kind woman, and I wanted to pay tribute to that. Off-White has always been about the modern woman, the empowered woman, the business woman, and I wanted the show to be influenced by her presence“.
Many of the looks from the collection reflect important moments of fashion in Diana’s life, and Abloh added his own avant-garde taste with leather, and crop-tops. The collection also included collaborations with Jimmy Choo. These are the most important looks on the runway, enjoy!
Voglio concludere con queste parole dette da Abloh parlando proprio di Lady Diana “Era un personalità forte, nonostante la sua posizione aveva un suo preciso gusto personale, e questo si poteva capire dai suoi abiti. Non ci sono stylist al lavoro qui”.
I would like to finish with these few words Abloh said about Princess Diana “She was a strong individual that despite her position had her own personal taste and it came out through the clothes. There is no stylist at play here”.
