Her influence on contemporary fashion is undeniable: in an era when curvy silhouettes, such as Marilyn Monroe’s, dominated the scenes, the star of Breakfast At Tiffany’s stood out for her slender figure, representing a kind of forerunner of today it-girl, thanks to her natural and true elegance.
After almost 25 years from her death, her items will be auctioned off in a live auction at Christie’s King Street headquarters, London on September 27 alongside an online sale, which will be open for bidding from September 19 to October 3. Items will include scripts, correspondence, photographs and film memorabilia, as well as fashion and accessories from such icons as Givenchy, Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo and Burberry.
E non a caso il Festival del Cinema di Roma (dal 26 ottobre al 5 novembre) ha messo lei sulla locandina ufficiale. Le mise delle altre dive passate alla storia sono spettacolari, ma relegate a poche occasioni speciali. Sono costumi, mentre quello che lei indossava è diventato, immancabilmente, un classico del guardaroba: nonostante siano pezzi basici di per sé, senza tempo, come i tubini, i maglioni e pantaloni neri abbinati a mocassini e calzini bianchi o i lunghi cappotti, riportano alla sua immagine poiché è riuscita a rimanere fedele al suo essere a ai suoi gusti.
