Quando si tratta di esprimere un’opinione su una sfilata, generalmente mi affido alla prima impressione basata sul mio gusto personale, che non vanta un vasto bagaglio culturale per quanto riguarda la moda.
Mossa sbagliata: bisognerebbe sempre approfondire l’argomento su cui ci si esprime! In questo caso specifico, conoscere l’ispirazione dietro ogni collezione ti permette di entrare in contatto con lo stilista e capire il suo messaggio. Vi sorprenderà scoprire che la moda è molto più che abiti e accessori.
La recente sfilata di Calvin Klein per me ne è un esempio lampante.
Vedo la sfilata la prima volta: Blah. Non mi piace. Troppo cowboy.
Poi Stella mi manda un link di approfondimento sulla sfilata (in una delle nostre centinaia di chat di gruppo) ed è come se i miei occhi si fossero aperti per la prima volta sulla quella collezione…
“Riguarda tutto l’horror americano e la bellezza americana“ Raf Simons ha detto riguardo alla collezione. “La moda cerca di nascondere ciò che è brutto ed abbracciare solo la bellezza. Ma sono entrambi parte della vita. Questa collezione vuole celebrare tutto questo: una celebrazione della vita americana”.
When it comes to express an opinion about a fashion show, usually I trust my first impression based on my personal taste, even though I don’t have any specific background about fashion. Wrong move: you should always learn more about a subject before express any kind of opinion! In this case, knowing what is the inspiration behind any fashion collection allows you to connect with the designer and to understand his or her message. You would be surprised to find out that fashion is much more than just clothes.
Calvin Klein’s latest fashion show has been a one of a kind lesson for me.
My first look at the show was “Blah, I don’t like this. Too costumy”
Then Stella sends me a link (among the hundreds she forwards me every day) to a more detailed analysis of the collection and suddenly it was like I was watching the designs for the first time…
“It’s about American horror and American beauty” says Raf Simons about the spring collection. “Fashion tries to hide the horror and embrace only beauty. But they are both a part of life. This collection is a celebration of that: a celebration of American life”.
