OK, facciamo un passo indietro. Come Stella ha già spiegato, il tema della mostra al MET Costume Institute è “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”. Le opere di Rei Kawakubo, fondatrice di Comme des Garçons, sono famosi per andare oltre la sottile linea che separa la moda dall’arte. Questo può suonare un po’ strano, soprattutto per coloro che non frequentano molto il mondo della moda. Ma è esattamente il compito delle modelle fare si che queste eccentriche creazioni una volta indossate siano stupende e glamour, non importa come. Se loro non ce la fanno, chi altri lo farà? (Ok…Rihanna sicuramente lo farà).
OK, let’s take one step backwards. As Stella has already explained, this year’s subject of the MET Costume Institute Exhibition is “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”. The designs of Rei Kawakubo, founder of Comme des Garçons, are famous for crossing the line between fashion and art. This might feel a bit odd at times, expecially for people who aren’t really into fashion. But it’s exactly the models’ job to make these eccentric creations look good and glamorous no matter what. If they can’t do it, who will? (OK…Rihanna will.)
VESTITA APPROPRIATAMENTE / PROPERLY DRESSED (i.e. Lily Adridge)
Questo look non è esattamente quello che Rei Kawakubo avrebbe ideato, comunque indossato da Lily sembra davvero arte e risulta veramente impeccabile. Lily ha indossato un capo custom dalla collezione di Ralph Lauren, un abito monospalla con mantella e un paio di stivali aderenti Balenciaga, il cui colore è un tributo al tema della serata. La modella ha anche aggiunto un dettaglio estremamente elegante, un velo che in parte copre il viso e che enfatizza decisamente lo stile, portando nel complesso l’ensemble su un altro pianeta.
Potrei stare imbambolata a fissare quegli stivali Balenciaga quella seducente cascata di seta bianca e quel velo rosa per giorni. Vedere queste cose fa bene alla mia anima.
That’s not exactly what Rei Kawakubo would have designed, however it feels like art and looks flawless. Lily wore a custom Ralph Lauren Collection one-shoulder caped dress and Balenciaga tight boots, whose color was a tribute to the Commes Des Garcons theme. She also added an extremely elegant veil across her face, which enhanced the flair of the look, elevating it to another level.
I could stare at those red Balenciaga spandex tight boots, that perfect white fluid silk charmeuse and that bright pink veil for days. This look feeds my soul.
Ecco. Fatta eccezione per Lily, questa volta sono stata veramente delusa dalle modelle.
