Gennaio: le prime campagne estive debuttano sulle riviste di moda; le collezioni Pre-Fall offrono un assaggio dei trend per il prossimo inverno; le sfilate maschili spalancano le porte al lungo mese di sfilate Ready-To-Wear femminili, mentre la Haute Couture Week di Parigi raduna nel vecchio continente i migliori couturier del mondo.
Tutto molto emozionante, ma diciamoci la verità: troppo spesso le collezioni Pre-Fall sembrano delle frettolose capsule collection; le sfilate maschili non entusiasmano mai quanto quelle femminili, mentre le collezioni Couture sono troppo inaccessibili anche solo per essere sognate da noi comuni mortali.
Per me Gennaio funge da riscaldamento per le sfilate Ready-To-Wear nelle Big 4 (NY, Londra, Milano, Parigi), dove oltre agli abiti, non vedo l’ora di scorgere anche qualche volto nuovo sulla passerella. Le aspettative per il mese della moda crescono: ecco tre giovani modelle, ‘newcomer’ della scorsa stagione, da cui mi aspetto molto nelle prossime sfilate.
January: Summer campaigns appear on fashion magazines; Pre-Fall collections give us a taste of the trends for the next Winter; men’s fashion shows open the doors to the long women’s fashion month, while the Haute Couture Week gathers in Paris all the best couturiers in the world.
Everything is really exciting, but let’s be honest: too often, the Pre-Fall collection looks like rushed capsule collections; men’s shows will never be as thrillling as women’s shows, while Couture looks are prohibitive for almost anybody.
For me, January is like a warm-up for the Ready-To-Wear shows in the Big 4 (NY, London, Milan, Paris), where I always try to scout some new faces, besides paying attention to every look. The expectations for the fashion month get higher: here there are three young models, ‘newcomers’ of the last season, that I can’t wait to see on the runway.
FARETTA
Faretta, croata, fa il suo debutto nel mondo della moda poco meno di un anno fa, in occasione della sfilata Fall/Winter 2016 di Givenchy a Parigi. Non farà altri show Ready-To-Wear quella stagione, ma sfilerà nuovamente per Givenchy, oltre che per Atelier Versace, Dior, Chanel, Valentino e Fendi durante la Fall Couture Week. La stagione successiva è la sua ‘breakout season’: 35 sfilate tra New York, Milano e Parigi.
Faretta, Croatian, made her debut into the fashion world not yet a year ago, at the Fall/Winter 2016 Givenchy fashion show. She didn’t walk any other shows that season, but she took part in the Givenchy, Atelier Versace, Dior, Chanel, Valentino and Fendi Couture show a few months later. The following season was her ‘breakout season’: 35 shows between New York, Milan and Paris.

Faretta si è già aggiudicata tre campagne per il 2017, ovvero Miu Miu Resort, Givenchy e Max Mara; inoltre ha già posato per Vogue Italia (Novembre 2016) e Vogue Japan (Febbraio 2017). Siamo sicure che grandi cose la aspettano.

ELLEN ROSA
Ellen Rosa, brasiliana, inizia a lavorare come modella nel suo paese Natale, nel 2014, a soli 15 anni, guadagnandosi addirittura la cover de l’Officiel Brasil. L’anno successivo debutta in passerella, sfilando per Animale alla settimana della moda di São Paulo. La sua carriera in Brasile è in continua ascesa, e finalmente nel 2016 firma con DNA Models a New York. Di lì a poco farà la sua prima sfilata nella Grande Mela: è quella di Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2017, dove sarà impossibile non notarla (complice quell’outfit che dovrà essere mio!). Alla fine della sua prima stagione totalizza 29 show tra New York, Londra, Milano e Parigi.
Ellen Rosa, Brazilian, started working as a model in her home country in 2014, at the young age of 15 and she managed to appear on the cover of L’Officiel Brasil in the same year. In 2015 she made her catwalk debut, walking for Animale during the São Paulo Fashion Week. Her career in Brazil kept rising, and in 2016 she finally signed for DNA Models in New York. Not long after, she walked her first show in the Big Apple: it was the Alexander Wang Spring/Summer 2017 show, where it was impossible not to notice her (also thanks to this outfit, which I desperately need!). At the end of her first season she will have walked 29 shows between New York, London, Milan and Paris.

Nel 2017 ha già collezionato cinque editorial (Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Vogue US, W Magazine e V Magazine). Siamo pronte a scommettere su di lei.
Thanks to her great presence on the runways, Ellen didn’t have to wait long to book her first jobs off the catwalk: three Pre-Fall lookbooks (Coach, Micheal Kors e Versace) and one S/S 2017 Ad Campaign (Miu Miu). Since the beginning of 2017 she has already appeared in five editorials (Vogue Italia, Vogue Japan, Vogue US, W Magazine and V Magazine). We are ready to bet on her!

GIULIA MAENZA
Giulia Maenza, italiana di Palermo, ha 17 anni e sta muovendo i primi passi nel mondo della moda (per ora solo nel Bel Paese). Nella stagione Spring/Summer 2017 ha preso parte alla Fashion Week di Milano, sfilando per Versace, Ermanno Scervino e Dolce & Gabbana. Solo tre sfilate, ma che stanno facendo da trampolino per la sua carriera. Nonostante la stagione Ready-To-Wear Fall/Winter non sia ancora cominciata, Giulia non sta perdendo tempo, ed ha sfilato per gli show Pre-Fall di Max Mara e Alberta Ferretti, a cui sono seguite le sfilate di Moschino e Dsquared2 durante la settimana della moda maschile di Milano.
Giulia Maenza, from Italy, is 17 years old and is taking her first steps into the world of fashion (so far, only in her home country). During the Spring/Summer 2017 season she took part in the Milan Fashion Week, walking for Versace, Ermanno Scervino and Dolce & Gabbana. Only three shows, but those are acting as a springboard for her career. Even though the Fall/Winter Ready-To-Wear season hasn’t started yet, Giulia isn’t wasting her time. She walked for the Max Mara and Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall shows, which have been followed by the Moschino and Dsquared2 shows during the men’s Milan Fashion Week.

Per le campagne è decisamente presto, ma intanto Giulia è comparsa nel lookbook Pre-Fall di Emilio Pucci. Potrebbe essere lei la nuova star Italiana, dopo Greta Varlese e Vittoria Ceretti? Attendiamo di vederla in passerella per le sfilate Fall/Winter 2017.
It’s definitely too early to talk about ad campaigns, but in the meantime Giulia appeared in the Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall lookbook. Could she be the next Italian star, after Greta Varlese and Vittoria Ceretti? We are waiting to see more from her on the Fall/Winter 2017 runways.
