L’abito non fa il monaco, è vero…nella vita reale. Ad Hollywood un abito può lanciare carriere e consolidarne altre: è un gioco di illusioni, ma al pubblico piace sognare. Ad inaugurare la consueta stagione delle premiazioni c’è sempre la celeberrima notte dei Golden Globes (o pre-oscar se preferite). Quindi eccomi qui, nella mia tenuta da rispettabilissima commentatrice: pigiama rosa, tazza di caffè e sopracciglio alzato. Da dove cominciamo?
They say “you can’t judge a book by its cover”, and it’s true…in real life. However when it comes to fashion in Hollywood, the right dress can start an entire carrier: it’s a game of illusions and the audience like to dream. As every year the award season is opened by the very well-known Golden Globes Awards. So here I am sporting my decent red carpet-correspondent look: pink PJs, coffee mug and rised eyebrow. Where do we start?
PRETTY PRINCESS
Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad couture FW16 / Emma Stone in Valentino / Hailee Steinfeld in custom Vera Wang
Tre look degni di una principessa Disney, e lo dico i senso buono. Decorazioni floreali per Lily Collins in questa ricca sfumatura di rosa, mentre Emma Stone si veste letteralmente di stelle argentate (un omaggio alla sua consacrazione a star di Hollywood?). Per Hailee avrei scelto qualcosa di più ricco, tuttavia questo vaporoso abito lilla non le sta male.
Three looks worth of a Disney’s princess and I mean it in a good way. Floral embroidery in a rich pink hue for Lily Collins, while Emma Stone is litterally dressed in stars (an homage to her new Hollywood’s status?). I would have chosen something different for Hailee, however she looks good in this lilac piece.
LEMONADE

Il giallo è stato stranamente popolare sul tappeto rosso dei Golden Globes: Viola Davis mi ha convinto in pieno con questo inaspettato Michael Kors, così come Reese Witherspoon in Versace. Resto ancora indecisa sulla scelta di Emily Ratajkowski: il vero punto forte del look è il gioiello incorporato nel design, ma non credo che il giallo fosse la scelta migliore per farlo risaltare.
Yellow was surprisingly popular on the Golden Globes red carpet: Viola Davis totally sold me that unexpected Michael Kors gown, as well as Reese Witherspoon in Versace. However I have found Emily Ratajkowski’s choice less convincing: the real star was the jewel incorporated into the design, so I am not sure that yellow was the right color to make the design pop.
SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND

La star emergente Ruth Negga non poteva fare debutto migliore: moderna, quasi futuristica in questo tripudio di lustrini (cuciti a mano tra l’altro) realizzato su misura dalla maison Louis Vuitton. Naomie Harris opta invece per l’inconfondibile classe italiana firmata Armani e non posso darle torto: questo look urla “Hollywood star” da tutti i pori. Tracee Hellis Ross radiosa come non mai in Zuhair Murad: abito dal taglio insolito per i Golden Globes, ma in questo caso funziona alla grande.
Raising star Ruth Negga made her major debut on the red carpet: modern, almost futuristic in this exquisite sequins’ masterpiece (handmade) courtesy of maison Louis Vuitton. Naomie Harris chose the unique Italian aesthetic of Armani and I totally agree: this look screams “Hollywood star” from miles away. Tracee Hellis Ross was a vision in Zuhair Murad: the lenght might be unusual for the Golden Globes, but overall it works for her.

Naomi Campbell in Versace: posso avere un Amen?! Brie Larson mi ha lasciato a boca aperta, soprattutto perchè questo meraviglioso e classico abito rosso è opera di Rodarte (nuova direzione creativa?). Chiude il trio Jessica Biel in uno dei meravigliosi abiti da sera creati da Elie Saab per la collezione couture autunnale 2016/2017: sexy e d’impatto. #LoVoglio.
Naomi Campbell in Versace: can I get an Amen?! Brie Larson melted my heart, mainly because this beautiful and classic red gown is designed by Rodarte (new creative direction?). Last but not least Jessica Biel in one of the gorgeous gowns designed by Elie Saab for the FW 2016/2017 couture collection: sexy and a show-stopper. #IWantThat.
DARK GLAMOUR

Non si sbaglia mai ad indossare il nero sul tappeto rosso, tuttavia queste signorine si sono rese indimenticabili pur giocando facile. #Complimenti
Wearing black to the red carpet is a safe choice, however these ladies made sure to look not just good, but unforgettable. #Applause
THE PROOF THAT YOU DON’T NEED A DRESS TO LOOK GREAT

Presentarsi ad un evento esclusivo come i Golden Globes con i pantaloni è quasi banale per gli uomini…ma se si parla di donne, beh può essere un’arma a doppio taglio. Evan Rachel Wood ha colto la palla al balzo in un impeccabile completo Altuzarra: coraggiosa e affascinante, il messaggio al genere femminile è chiaro “non vi serve un vestito per sentirvi belle”.
Showing up to an exclusive event such as the Golden Globes wearing pants is almost ordinary for men…but if we talk about women, than it could be tricky. Evan Rachel Wood surprised everyone wearing an exquisite suit by Altuzarra: brave and charming, the message to all the women out there was clear “you don’t need a dress to feel beautiful”.
IRONICALLY BAD

Sarò breve: acconciatura discutibile e tessuti troppo pesanti per SJP; sotto le aspettative (già basse in partenza) la scelta di Heidi per il red carpet principale (pensava già all’after party forse?), mentre l’abito Gucci di Felicity mortifica sia la sua figura che l’incarnato.
I’ll be quick: bad hairstyle and heavy fabric for SJP; Heidi has made an(other) underwalming choice of design for the main red carpet, while Felicity’s Gucci gown is doing nothing for her figure and skintone.
A questo punto confido nei SAG Awards 2017 (29 Gennaio 2017) per una sferzata di originalità generale: care star di Hollywood vi toccherà fare di più per impressionarmi!
