The Balmain x H&M capsule collection was launched on November 5th, and the world literally lost his/their minds.
#TEB went down to the collection’s launch in Milan, at H&M main store…
…and here is what we have “learned”:
1. PEOPLE WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR A TASTE OF LUXURY
Scenes similar to a zombie apocalypse, videos of people running into stores, mile long queues outside, changing room fights, and people sleeping on the street…
2. THE OXYMORON COUTURE FOR MASSES…
…but not for everyone. People in queue outiside the shop didn’t even know Balmain nor its real prices, so they were ready to buy an item not of their size and not having the proper style, just to say: “Hey, I’ve got a Balmain!”
3. SO…THEY AGREED TO PAY H&M ARTICLES 3 TIMES THEIR VALUE
4. EXCLUSIVITY WAS ONLY AN ILLUSION
As #HMBALMAINATION goods offer was not that varied as on the runway, many people will find themselves wearing the same piece of clothes. [for example the green sequin dress, which was one of the most desired (maybe because it was less expensive than the others or because it was one of the last remaining…who knows)].
5. OLIVIER ROUSTEING IS AN ADVERTISING GENIUS
Not only is he a social media maestro, but he had also whipped up an online frenzy in the weeks preceding the unveiling of this collection with the help of celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Jourdan Dunn.
